I didn’t know about Jones being a left-wing San Francisco freak until I read Tom Wolf. I didn’t know of his connections with powerful Dems nationwide until then, either, because the media spun the story in the only acceptable way
I lived in Oakland (right across the bridge and where many of the victims are buried) when all this was going on, and I wonder if I were older at the time if I would have been suspicious, as that is my nature. Hmmm.
Most of real history is not so easily found. Such as the Civil War History. If you want some truth on that, read “The Real Lincoln” , by Tomas DiLorenzo, and look up Monica’s Dark Corner here on substack. Honest Abe was a liar, and he hated anyone who wasn’t white… not what we were taught in school.
Jonestown was put in the “right-wing, racist fundie Christian” box by the media, and therefore in the public consciousness. Waco was slightly closer to that, but still needed massive directing by media and government to stay in that box
Waco was a nightmare that no one knew about. The news media never mentioned there were any non-whites there—all there were murdered by ATF. The buildings were surrounded by a fence, and leader David Koresh went to town every day in his truck. The ATF could have grabbed him instead of attacking the place and setting fire to it.
David Koresh was a very evil man and the Branch Davidians’ beliefs were complete nonsense. All that being said, the ATF, FBI, Attorney General Janet Reno, and President Bill Clinton totally mishandled the situation leading to the deaths of four ATF agents and seventy-six Branch Davidians. Among the Branch Davidians twenty-five children were killed. It was a tragic failure on the part of the federal government. They made a number of terrible decisions and used tactics that were far too aggressive.
Rep. Jasmine Crockett and her fellow Democrats claim to be the defenders of Black History Month. But there is some important recent black history she and they are either unaware of or want to keep quiet. The twenty-nine African-Americans who were burned to death in the tragic conclusion of the Waco standoff. The Branch Davidians were NOT white supremacists! They were a multiracial proto-Christian cult. Over half of the members of Koresh’s congregation were people of color. They were black, Latino and Asian. The people who died at Waco wouldn’t be paid any mind by the Democrats as they are stereotyped as just as the kind of people they want nothing to do with-gun toting rednecks from the South.
But the thing is many of those gun toting rednecks were in fact, black, brown and yellow. Waco was unintentionally the largest massacre of black Americans since the atrocities committed by Confederate soldiers against black Union soldiers at the Battle of Fort Pillow in 1864. But this Black History Month, Rep. Crockett nor any of her colleagues will sadly not be remembering or memorializing those poor black Branch Dravidians including children who lost their lives in a tragedy in part caused by their own party.
You are so right, Jack! The suffering of black Branch Davidians at the unwitting hands of the Clinton administration might well have strained the bonds of affection between President Clinton and the black community. This could’ve led to a seismic shift in American politics in which black Americans started to migrate back to the party of Lincoln. Had the black casualties of Clinton’s blunder been more widely known and the GOP had nominated a more formidable candidate such as Colin Powell for instance, perhaps Bill Clinton could’ve ended up a one-term President. We could’ve possibly seen an earlier Blexit.
There is NO comparison between the tragic events at Waco and the equally as tragic events at Jonestown. Those who died at Jonestown killed themselves (most without knowing it). Those who died at Waco were basically the victims of a botched FBI raid that went horribly wrong. Furthermore, Jim Jones wasn’t a Christian Fundamentalist but rather was an atheist and a Communist.
However, in the case of Jonestown the Democrats this time embraced those in the cults. Harvey Milk, George Moscone, Willie Brown, and Jerry Brown all gave Jones and the People’s Temple their endorsement as did First Lady Rosalynn Carter and Vice President Walter Mondale. A fact the Democratic Party today finds very embarrassing.
On another note speaking of Harvey Milk, his story is very much misunderstood and he was not the saint he’s been portrayed as. To be sure, Harvey Milk was a great man and a trail blazer as the first openly gay politician in American history. He was to be sure a courageous champion of gay rights and his assassination in 1978 was a terrible tragedy. But he was no angel. Milk lied about being discharged from the U.S. Navy due to his homosexuality, staged hate crimes and outed friends without their permission. Furthermore, his assassin Dan White, wasn’t a conservative homophobe but rather a blue-collar Democrat who often voted with Milk in support of gay issues.
I am old enough to remember the Waco siege. One of the reasons given for the raid was that “children were being abused.” Always use “the children.”
As for Jim Jones, there is an excellent book about him and The People’s Temple by Jeff Guinn (The Road to Jonestown). I used to think only weak-minded people succumbed to cults. This book described the political and sociological times and the setting (mostly San Francisco). Jones actively recruited at black churches, and was active in San Francisco politics. The book showed step by step that almost anyone can be seduced by ideology if the conditions are right.
A more recent proof of this phenomenon is in the Covid Cult. Masking, sheltering in place, testing, shut downs, murdering old people in nursing homes, jabbing and continuing to jab in spite of all the evidence proving the jabs are toxic, just another example of how gullible people can be.
Either you need a Webster's, or a massively obvious Sarcastic font. Of course, I am not a democrat but when someone says, "Illegally entering the country is NOT a crime" I will write them off. Someone that stupi.... um. Utterly Clueless is simply not worth listening to. And anyone who thinks she is, is in the same catagory.
Crockett is from St. Louis, MO. FYI. She later moved to Texas. She is playing a part for the Democratic Party, in order to appeal to a certain group and get under the skin of others. She attended private schools and is highly educated. She just acts otherwise and people believe her role playing.
Well, she thinks that the law is that if you break into our country it isn't against our law. She said on TV that you can sneak into our country and it isn't breaking any law. She is so stupid just like AOC!! 🥴😵💫
Jasmine Crockett would be another propped up disaster for the Democratic party. The Waco incident was a major tragedy that should have been avoided. Great article, Jack.
Remember each one of these horrific events and you’re absolutely right! It was deliberate, then comp covered up …. The Clintons were always in the middle of it. Not typically in the public eye, however.
This is so fascinating to me. It never even crossed my mind that the Branch Davidians were anything but white. Wow.
And I knew that Jim Jones was strange, but I didn’t realize he was a Marxist. (I was only 13 when Guyana happened.)

😮😮
Check it out… all of the quotes are sourced from the timeframe.
Janet Reno and Hillary Clinton pushed for eliminating the Branch Davidians.
I remember hearing Janet Reno's name in conjunction with Waco, but not Hillary's--but then again I was not paying that much attention in those days.
Hillary and Janet Reno were lesbian lovers at the time.
I had no idea.
Jonestown was put in the “right-wing, racist fundie Christian” box by the media, and therefore in the public consciousness. Waco was slightly closer to that, but still needed massive directing by media and government to stay in that box
Lucifer prince of darkness and lies, god of this world. His creator- as well as our own- will make all things right in proper time!

They were showing off for the new AG, Janet Reno, whose approval rating actually went up after Waco so corrupt was the media coverage.
Does anyone really think Crockett was “elected?” She was merely installed like her Latina cousin AOC .

Lots if new knowledge here that was never in the news. Wonder where you acquired this? Thanks.

Jasmine Crockett is 'inspirational'??
Either you need a Webster's, or a massively obvious Sarcastic font. Of course, I am not a democrat but when someone says, "Illegally entering the country is NOT a crime" I will write them off. Someone that stupi.... um. Utterly Clueless is simply not worth listening to. And anyone who thinks she is, is in the same catagory.
Uh..."inspirational" was meant ironically. Sarcasm, of course, is meant to be obvious. Irony need not be.
Unfortunately, there are people who definitely find her words 'inspirational'.
It's insane. Mind boggling actually.

Yeah, the way she puts on her “from the Projects” accent just slays me. She is cosplaying, for sure.
As long as she is getting money and has a speck of power she doesn’t care about anything but herself
I’ve read that she’s gone from a net worth of -$46,997 to between $1 and $5 million according to her filings. Not bad in two years!
Are you kidding me? Jasmine Crockett would blame right wing militia for Waco..
As far as I can tell, Jasmine Crockett knows NO history at all
If Crockett has less melanin, she’d be called “white trash.”
Well, she thinks that the law is that if you break into our country it isn't against our law. She said on TV that you can sneak into our country and it isn't breaking any law. She is so stupid just like AOC!! 🥴😵💫
Crockett is a female narcissist.
She believes she's the smartest and best in the room. It's all about her and she bristles at being ignored or ridiculed.
Poor fragile ego.
Doubtful that Crockett actually knows anything
