The political trap Democrats and the left have gotten themselves into is fascinating to me. They have tied themselves to extreme positions that repel most voters: trans ideology (including transing kids), racial preferences and quotas, letting violent criminals roam free, and objecting to deportation of even dangerous criminals. Trump won by opposing all of this, and yet Democrats seem to be doubling down. It’s a risky move to defy both federal law and popular sentiment. I don’t see how that can win future elections.

Yet their only other option is bad, too. If they moderate by abandoning all that, their left wing of voters, activists, and donors will revolt. Maybe 10-20% of their support? And would they gain enough moderate voters to compensate? I don’t think so, having no positive proposals, just Trump hatred. They seem well and truly stuck.

So glad that all of this Leftist 🐂💩 is finally being exposed for the insanity that it is. 🙏👍👍🙏

PapayaSF's avatar

And that large numbers of centrists and even long-time Democrats are seeing it. MAGA has the common sense high ground on all these issues.

Don Estes's avatar

Democrats are masters at rigging elections. Never underestimate their criminal abilities.

ALtab's avatar

Their NGO partners are being starved of their funding, just at the time more and more election fraud data is being gradually released to the public. The drips are faster, but they’re not a flood yet.

Don Estes's avatar

Yes, but they still own the usps.

One reason we need to ban mail-in ballots. (Absentee are okay.)

They’ll get their rewards at the ballot box. Not that they won’t still win some state and local elections, but they seem doomed on a national level.

PSW's avatar

But you see, they could gain more of the sane Middle of the Road voters, many of whom are somewhat anti-Trump but see no real alternative given the woke bullshit. Let the radicals form their own party.

Steve's avatar

Unfortunately, they drove most of the sane people out of the urban cheating centers during Covid. As long as cheat by mail (and other chicanery) is on the table, nothing's impossible, despite the left being well into "deranged evil" territory.

PapayaSF's avatar

The DoJ is now watching for election fraud, though. It’s going to be much harder for them to get away with anything.

Steve's avatar

That depends on how much of DoJ was cleaned up of leftist rot. The professions are infested with Marxist scum and it is only getting worse as they push out the sane people with DEI and mandates.

I have an Arthur Ashe quote taped to my computer: "Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can."

Dav Eka's avatar

Great phrase. I’m going to tape it on my desk too. Now I just need to go to my desk. The piles glare at me though.

Wokeness is an Establishment-created synthetic virtue for infecting the morally vacuous. It’s lying made more contagious by gain of function research.

Rick Janes's avatar

It’s their recruiting tool — Marxists are always looking for a few good stooges.

Judith's avatar

The new T-shirts with the leftists ploy are being manufactured even now. Someone is in the back room updating their dictionary of hate towards anything moral. All media is a curse and a blessing. Your substack is a comprehensive recitation or should I say revelation of their ONLY weapon. Thanks for the blessing!

Noah Otte's avatar

This was a stupendous piece, Jack that succinctly sums up how wokeness came to be as well as the death of that dreaded word! Wokeness is basically an umbrella term for all the different awful ideas and policies the left is pushing for: identity politics, political correctness, censorship, language policing, abortion on demand, gender-affirming care for minors, Transgender people competing in women’s sports, DEI, reparations for slavery, land acknowledgments, one Palestinian state from the river to the sea, etc. It started in the 1960s as a term invented by the black community to mean that one was aware of societal injustice. But white liberals and leftists took the term and used it to mean things that were never intended. But now with all that has transpired in the past fifteen years, people are seeing the insanity of woke ideology and the left’s long march through our institutions wasn’t just a right-wing conspiracy, it did in fact happen. The radical left took over much of academia, Hollywood, the entertainment industry, the arts, all the major disciplines, all the major NGOs and government agencies, and good chunk of the mainstream media.

I think what woke the silent majority of Americans including many liberals, up was the Great Awokening during the summer of 2020 after George Floyd’s tragic death and all the insanity that followed and Joe Biden’s disastrous Presidency. Not to mention how the government and the media lied about COVID-19, January 6th, the Hunter Biden Laptop Scandal, the “mostly peaceful” “protests” that followed Floyd’s death, Biden’s obvious dementia being denied, the kangaroo courts against Trump, etc. It all lead to a prefect storm in which Donald Trump’s special 2024 Presidential campaign propelled him back to the White House. His campaign was not unlike Ronald Reagan’s in 1980 or Barack Obama’s in 2008 in that it caused a sensation and was one for the history books. Bruce Jenner getting ESPN’s Arthur Ashe Courage Award was a joke! Being Trans isn’t something that is courageous. He got an award for doing nothing basically. Arthur Ashe managed to become one of the best tennis players while suffering from AIDS a terrible disease that at the time there was no treatment for that eventually killed him.

As to the coalition the left has built, its incoherent and is falling apart. You know why? Because of a point they’ll never understand, all members of a group do NOT think alike! Also, the groups they’ve brought together aren’t all necessarily compatible with each other let’s just say. Muslims don’t exactly have the highest regard for women or LGBTQ+ people. In Muslim countries, women are second-class citizens if not chattel and LGBTQ+ people are socially ostracized, imprisoned and murdered. Black-Palestinian solidarity? Yeah, I don’t think so. Ever hear of the Arab Slave Trade or the Al-Abeed Neighborhood in Gaza? Blacks and Latinos and Asians don’t necessarily get on either. For example, the LA Times released a civil rights investigation by the California state in the 1990s, which found that Hispanic landlords were discriminating against black tenets and black landlords were discriminating against Hispanic tenants.

How about the long-standing hostility between blacks and Koreans in LA? Remember the LA Riots in 1992? One of the incidents that lead to it was a Korean woman Soo Ja Du killing a black teen girl named Latasha Harlans. Ever seen the famous pictures of the “rooftop Koreans” defending their shops against black rioters and looters? Ever seen the movie “Freedom Writers?” in it you see that in LA schools around that time black, Korean and Hispanic students distrusted and despised each other as much as they did the white students. Not to mention the tensions that exist between African and Caribbean immigrants and native born black Americans. Minority groups don’t necessarily get along with each other. Not even if they share a similar skin color. It is these complexities of the human condition that the woke fail to understand or account for. Now they’ll need to find a new word for their crusade because it’s been throughly discredited and turned into a punchline and I couldn’t be happier! Here’s an anti-woke reading list for everyone:

Thanks for the etymology lesson, Jack.

An interesting story of "linguistic cultural appropriation" twisted and malformed to simulate supposed "new knowledge" of human Darwinian change (so called "evolution"), when all it is in reality is another tired attempt to displace God and God's immutable laws.

Thank you, Jack, for reminding me how literally sick I am of ALL the programming anti-human garbage….for years I’ve listened (or not), ignored the orders, and always disobeyed the purveyors of this nonsense.

It's been said that 'go woke, go broke', and while not always true - woke is big business to many of it's practitioners, oddly often by those of Marxist and anti-capitalist stripes - the greater contextualization, ironically so, if in fact woke did originate with the black civil rights movement, is 'go woke, become yoked'.

Because, as most things that tout progressive bona fides, woke is just another form of bondage that some want to impose on others, either for revenge, for equity, or for signaling (fake) virtue, all of which seem to be at odds with the self-anointed most compassionate and self-deputized empathy police.

Charlie Kirk was handed a death sentence and a public execution and it was carried out sans due process and sans a trial. Was that a one-off occurrence or was it a warning for the next time America finds itself under the yoke of the woke?

I could not agree more. So sick of the b*******. I never thought of myself as phobic or racist or any of the negative things that we are called. But the walkerati are changing my mind by the day

Pope Leo has tried to salvage the term "woke" by touting its virtues, but his social media posts are laughable and he is proving to be just as much—if not more—of a political hack as his predecessor.

Woke is still going full steam ahead here in Australia - parents now get to state which pronouns, such as they/them, they want used to address their children when they enroll in kindergarten at age 4.
