A lot of us Americans saw Obama as the phony he was. The left wing media did a good job of intimidation on the public and apparently on the publications you mentioned. They were playing it safe as it looked like everyone wanted to be able to say they backed the first black president, even if only by not attacking him.
McCain as a candidate made it easy; a poor choice, the media remembered him from his days of talking to the enemy in a Viet Cong prison camp and his not so impressive inclusion as one of the Keating Five. Even if he was completely innocent in both incidents, it was easy for them to lay low.
I know he wasn't, I don't believe he was innocent in either Viet Nam or Keating. He was let off the hook because his father was a high ranking & respected naval officer with no scandals on his record. They didn't want to embarrass the father. McCain later showed his true worth with his vote that allowed Obama Care to ruin medical coverage.
Worse than that, in the early ‘90s, he got a law passed that stopped our country from trying to find any more MIA or POWs from the Vietnam War. He was trying to hide the role he played as “Songbird.”
Those that did return were not McCain fans, I don't know if any were with him in that "prison" but these men did not like him for a reason. If they were held in the same camp, they may have been beaten to demonstrate it would happen to him if he did not co-operate . I'm sure he was targeted by his captors who knew he was the son of a high ranking officer. That was enough for them to target him but the others suffered greatly for it. John McCain might well have become the 44th President of the United States not Obama. This scandal should’ve gotten more attention from the press. Obama should’ve been questioned about who actually wrote his books by every media outlet in the country! His ties to Ayers (and Louis Farrakhan) should’ve been more closely scrutinized.
