When it came down to "qualifications," Obama only had one: Race.

... the original DEI hire.

The fault WAS entirely Obama’s. He signed on to this misadventure. He possessed ample political capital and could have chosen his own path. His incompetence and laziness obviated that opinion.

Obama was the first guy ever elected POTUS without one single accomplishment in life.

Elena Kagan was the first Supreme Court judge who never served as a judge in any court, including municipal courts. But she did draft Obamacare when she was working at Harvard Law School.

Cheesefrog's avatar

Wow, did not know that. I knew you didn't have to be one but didn't know there actually was one who wasn't.

Well, as Joe said ‘he is clean’. First black ever!

Right! I had forgotten he was the first articulate black man ever. His list of achievements is a mile long.

Articulate as long as he was reading a teleprompter, otherwise every other word was ugh, ugh, ugh - just like his fanboy, Robert Malone, who publicly labeled us as racist because we called out Obama for the scumbag that he was/is.

A record that he still holds to this day.

An excellent article, Jack that I thoroughly enjoyed reading! Barack Obama is the most overrated President in American history. Why did so many voters turn on Obama and the Democratic Party during his two terms in office? It's because in many ways, Obama failed to live up to his promises of hope and change. Jack uses the example of blue-collar old-fashioned Democrats in Upstate New York in the rust belt who voted for Obama twice and then saw that the vision for America he proposed was based in large part on lies. Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, Ben Rhodes, and Jen Psaki all admitted to lying through their teeth to the American public at Obama's direction. Jonathan Gruber openly bragged about how the lack of transparency with the American public was a huge political advantage for Team Obama. Gruber remarked that the voter's "stupidity" made it easy to sell Obamacare to them. Then there was Susan Rice lying about Benghazi five times no less. That's not even to mention the countless lies that John Brennan, James Clapper, and James Comey told. In Chautauqua, Obama didn't do anywhere near as well in 2012 as he did in 2008. Mitt Romney beat Obama by 13 points. In 2016, Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton by 23 points in the town. In 2024, Donald Trump beat Kamala Harris by about the same margin and swept the upstate area. Obama betrayed the working class, so they started voting Republican. However, even as Middle America abandoned Obama, the mainstream media continued its love affair with the 44th President. Historian Jon Meacham for instance lavished Obama with praise in a 2018 Vanity Fair article on the President. Mr. Meacham is an excellent historian, but he needs to stay in his lane and stop talking about politics. His political takes are absolutely awful. Meanwhile, he absolutely rails against Donald Trump.

Returning to Obama and the Democratic Party's political failures, in January 2009, the Democratic Party controlled both chambers of twenty-seven states. Eight years later, the Democrats controlled both chambers in only thirteen states. On Obama's watch, his party also lost a net total of thirteen governorships and eight hundred and sixteen legislative seats. That's abysmal! That's not even to mention all his failures in the White House. Obama kissed up to dictators, got four Americans killed at Benghazi, the Fast and Furious Scandal, bombed eight countries, negotiated the failed Iran Deal, alienated Israel, turned Libya into a failed state with open slave markets, handed Iraq over to ISIS on a silver platter, mishandled the Afghanistan War, and took too long to intervene in Syria, just to name a few. Mr. Meacham can bag on Trump all he likes and accuse him of being Hitler reincarnated but it wasn't Obama who saved the American people fifty billion dollars with the DOGE, paid TSA employees during a partial government shutdown, got the Big Beautiful Bill Act and the Laken Riley Act passed, secured the Southern Border, deported 2.2 million illegal immigrants, captured Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro and his wife, destroyed Iran's nuclear facilities, killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, bombed the Houthis into submission in Yemen, stood by Israel in the Gaza War, started the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation to feed the people of Gaza, got the nations of NATO to increase defense spending, got Panama to pull out of the Belt Road Initiative, defunded NPR and PBS, banned gender-affirming care for minors, and sent the National Guard into the cities to fight crime, Donald Trump did.

One huge factor here is the Smith-Mundt modernization act, which allowed the intelligence agencies to target Americans.

I felt that Obama was a fraud from day one. What I marveled at is who decided to shaft the Clinton’s at the highest levels inside of the DNC given their supposed control of the Democratic Party at the time.

Good question.

As Obama came out of the IL democrat machine, seems likely that machine would have been happy to help push Clinton's aside.

Yet no one mentions Obama's stolen SSN, which violates federal law. Every law he signed, dollar he spent, appointment he made was illegal. He should be in jail for the damage he intentionally did to our country.

I don’t think Obama truly won. Maybe the first election. But he damn sure didn’t win in 2012

"Scores of serious people, many of them not formally 'journalists,' had been un-telling the Obama story since he first emerged. Thanks to the internet, they had as much access to information as Meacham did, and they were not constrained by the polite mendacity of the liberal establishment."

Golly, Jack, WHO could you possibly be describing?

Black communities online, in the streets, at stores were very noticeably happy after the election of Obama, for 3 months. ‘ the first three months of 2009 are often remembered as a unique "honeymoon" period of hope and pride.’

And then they understood he was a total fraud.

They also knew he was not a "foundational" black man. His mother was white (making him a "half-breed," their words, not mine) and his father was an African from Kenya. No history of "overcoming" slavery, etc. They still voted for him because he was black enough, but not really one of them (same with Kamala Harris, who is also not a foundational black person).

Somewhere someone has a DNA sample from BHO, The One. And I’m 99+% certain that DNA bears no trace of BHO Sr., just as I’m certain his daddy was the subject of Barry’s awkward, creepy poem “Pops”.

Thanks Jack for your scholarship and courage.
